While The Honeymoon Suite isn’t officially out until the 18th of June in the UK, for those of you who are desperate for an early peek, the great news is that it’s now available to request over on NetGalley!

What Is NetGalley and How Does It Work?

For anyone who isn’t sure what NetGalley is or how it works, neither was I, until I had it explained to me last week!

Basically, NetGalley is an online platform that enables publishers to connect with book reviewers, bloggers, influencers, booksellers and librarians and to share free digital ARCS with them in exchange for early reviews of the book.

To request a copy of The Honeymoon Suite, you’ll need to set up an account with NetGalley and request to read it. These requests are then manually reviewed on a case-by-case basis (not by me), and my publisher decides whether or not to send over a digital copy of the book.

As I understand it, publishers typically prefer to send ARCs to people that they feel confident will leave a review, so they look at things like the ratio of books a person has received, versus how many reviews they’ve left. After all, they are giving away a free copy of the book, so they want to be sure they’ll get something in return!

Reviews should always be honest though - there are no perks for those who leave a glowing review, and equally no consequences if someone requests to read only to discover that they hate the book! Reviewers are totally free to rate the book however they see fit.

This whole part of the publishing process has very little to do with me, so if you do get passed over for a request, I can only apologise, and I hope you’ll still consider buying The Honeymoon Suite when it comes out, in whatever format suits you best.

It’s already available for pre-order, and it will be out in hardback, audiobook and e-book on the 18th of June in the UK, with the paperback version to follow next year (2027).

How it Feels to Get Early Reviews

As an author, it’s both exciting and terrifying to think that early readers can now request and read an ARC of a book that up to now, only a very limited number of people have actually read!

On the one hand, I’m so curious to know what readers think, but on the other hand, I know reviews aren’t really for authors, they’re for other readers, so I’m doing my best to keep my head down and crack on with writing the next book!

Ultimately, I’m just genuinely thrilled that anyone wants to read the book at all, and that it’s going to be out there, in people’s hands, hearts and heads! After all, isn’t that one of the very best things about being a writer- inviting people to join you in the story you’ve spent so long creating?
